From the towering presence of the Brachiosaurus (who could live for a hundred years!) to the tiny arms of a Tyrannosaurus Rex (that could bench press 400 pounds each), dinosaurs have been a favorite of children and adults alike since forever, really. And, if you're a fan of random facts like I am, then get ready because these books are full of random dinosaur facts!

Books

Stegosaurus had a brain the size of a walnut, only three centimeters long and weighing 75 grams.

The smallest dinosaur egg so far found is only three centimeters long. It is not known what species it was from.

The T Rex doesn't have the tiniest arms. That award goes to Canotaurus.

Most long necked dinosaurs had a gas producing bacteria in their stomachs to help with their high fiber diet, which would make them toot very often.

Anchiornis was one of the tinier dinosaurs, no bigger than a pigeon of today.

The dinosaur with the longest name is Micropachycephalosaurus, which means “small thick-headed lizard.”

The first dinosaur bones ever discovered belonged to Megalosaurus and weren't found until the 1820s.

Velociraptors from the "Jurassic Park" movies weren't actually Velociraptors. They were about the size of a turkey. The movie came out, and then the Utahraptor was discovered, and Steven Speilberg laughed and laughed.

玛丽安宁(1799 - 1847)是最著名的一个of all fossil hunters. However, she was never taken as seriously as she should have been because she was a woman from a poor background when most scientists were men from wealthy families.

Colorado’s nickname is the Stegosaurus State. The first ever Stegosaurus skeleton was found near Morrison, Colorado.

Triceratops had the biggest skull with a solid shield than any other dinosaur. It was up to six-and-a-half feet (2 m) long, with a bony shield over its neck.

I'm including this book because Ankylosauraus is a favorite of mine. It was able to reach the speed of six miles per hour. An adult's tail was strong enough to break bones in a fight versus a T Rex.

There is a dinosaur called the Dracorex Hogwartsia, meaning the dragon king of Hogwarts, inspired by its dragon-like appearance and of course, Harry Potter.

Microraptors had four wings, two on its arms and two on its legs. It was most likely a nighttime hunter.

Elasmosaurus, while technically not a dinosaur but a marine reptile, swam around with a long flexible neck that contained 71 bones. Its tail was only a short 18.

Dreadnoughtus is the largest dinosaur ever discovered. Not much is known about this gigantic herbivore as only two fossils have been found. Scientists think the fossils might be from young dreadnoughtus, so they might have been even more giant than we thought!

Measuring 50 feet, Liopleurodon was the biggest aquatic reptile, half the size of the blue whale.

Ichthyosaur babies were born tail-first. If they had been born head first, they would have drowned before they could reach the water's surface to take their first breath.

Shantungosaurus tipped the scales at 15 tons, but it was probably capable of running on two legs when pursued by predators, which would make it the largest bipedal terrestrial animal in the history of the planet.

The only known example of the giant sauropod Seismosaurus appears to have choked to death on a stone it was trying to swallow to use as a gastrolith-an aid in digestion.

Barosaurus stands at over 50 feet high, and a big question about the 32 foot long necked herbivore is whether or not they could stand on their two hind legs. Scientists have calculated that in order to get enough blood to its brain while standing that way, the Barosaurus would have had to have a heart weighing 3000 pounds!

Lesothosaurus was about the size of a house cat and scientists believe it traveled in family groups and lived in burrows.

Qianzhousaurus was discovered in southern China in 2014, and it is related to the T Rex, and was nicknamed "Pinocchio Rex" because of it's long snout.

When first found in 1887, Triceratops horns were thought to belong to an extinct bison. Many intact Triceratops fossils have been found throughout the years since, and scientists have discovered that as they aged, Triceratops horns changed shape, the frill became smoother and the nose horn fused to the skull bones.

The herbivore with the most horns at an impressive fifteen, the Kosmoceratops may have been an earlier relative to the Triceratops. Unlike the Triceratops, the horns on top of its head curve downward.

The oldest known dinosaur is Saltopus. It was a small carnivore that lived 245 million years ago. Remains of this dinosaur have only been found in Scotland.

The largest Mosasaur skeleton on display is 42.7 feet long, and is nicknamed Bruce.

The first part of Troodon discovered was a single tooth. It took nearly a hundred years to find any more bones belonging to Troodon. Troodon was one of the smartest dinosaurs around; today it would be as smart as a chicken.

The dinosaur with the shortest name is Yi qi. Yi means wing, and it is the only dinosaur discovered so far to have wings like a bat.

Apatosaurus couldn't use their tails for defense, but their long and unusually slim tail could be cracked like a whip to frighten away predators, making a noise as loud as a cannon being fired that could be heard for miles.
